A quickie

Been awhile since I posted. Haven't been playing all that much lately due to tending to Effrom. When I have played I have not had any desire to play Holdem. I have played ~8k hands of plo. I have also been playing a lot of Razz lately. I did bubble the FT of the 1k gntd Razz tourney two weeks ago. The same one that JM FT'd. I have also taken a liking to the 5 card tourney that starts the same time on Sundays. Played some Holdem here and there, nothing really interesting to report on though. Been spending much more time away from the computer and enjoying the time with the family when I'm not working, which has been 10-16hr days lately.

Gave up on cash

I decided that since I can not put in a ton of volume it probably wasn't a good investment of my time to dabble around playing 8K hands of cash a month. So I have been back to sng's. I came up with an aggressive plan for moving up as I am overolled for where I am starting, but this "shot" will make it easier for me to move up and gain more expierence at higher levels quicker. I'm going to start at the 3.40's with 20 buyins in my "BR" and move up when I hit 20 buyins for the next level until I hit the $55's <--- this may take awhile. I am also forcing myself to 6 table them instead of 10 to really focus and make sure that I am making correct decisions. There's no reason that I shouldn't be able to kill through the 16's as I was doing well at the 11's and 22's at FTP. Now why should I play the $3.40's on a 1k roll? I think it's a psychological thing. If I do the 20 buyin "roll" then if I hit the $55's and have to move down or get crushed I've lost only $68 of my "roll". I know it's retarded and it shouldn't matter and I'm a puss but w/e. I've rationalized it, and it makes sense in my mind as to why my shots failed before so this is how I'm going to try this time. I decided to do this 4 days ago and here's my stats so far at the $3.40's:

Really I don't see a problem gettin myself up to the $27's. I think I'll be bouncing back between the $27's and $16's for awhile as I think the $27's is where there are people that actually can play. I know there are plenty at the $16's but they aren't the norm like I think they will be at the $27's.

I played 2k nlhe hands. Damn you Mr. Binks lol. I have been loving the 8 game cash games on p*'s as well. It amazes me how bad some people play most of the games. Hell half the time they don't even know the hand rankings. It is definately a welcome change of pace and I plan on playing them quite a bit more. Also here's a w00t for seitz. Congrats on the WCOOP 8 game finish. You can read up on CT about it. Otherwise almost finished painting the house, baby is due any day, got a bunch of work done on the bu, and classes started back up. Sorry it's not a more interesting post, but w/e.

Been awhile

It's been a bit since I updated this thing. I got really busy writing two final papers and preparing for two final exams. Then once that was done I spent most of my free time finishing up the baby room. Then started to scrape and paint the house only to then have it rain for four consecutive days. Now I'm waiting for everything to dry out. On the poker front I have found my self despising nl. I have forced my self to play, and had pretty bad results mostly from me not paying attention because I didn't feel like playing. I felt like playing some limit and sngs, did, enjoyed myself more because those were the games I felt like playing. I guess I'm not cut out to grind a single game for a ton of hands, so I'm not going to force myself to play if I'm not enjoying it. I of course will still play, just when I want to, not because I "have" to. I think your state of mind is one of the most important things in having good sessions. If your not into, obvs you will not be playing your "A" game and things will not go your way. So there's the quick update on what's been going on. The due date is two weeks away so I'm sure I'll be playing more during the late night feedings as well.

Mid Aug update

So I've pretty much switched from FTP to P*'s. It's just so much easier to find good tables simply because there are so many more running. On FTP it could take around 30-40mins to get on 6 good tables. That's a long time when you only play a max of 2hrs a day. So I've been grinding on P*'s. The software is growing on me, but I still wish it dealt as fast as FTP. I was on track to meet all of my monthly goals until this week when I played much less then normal trying to get things in order for the wife's baby shower and our out of town guest's, all while preparing for an audit at work and putting in crazy amounts of hours there. I'll be glad when this week is over.

I am getting back to the same comfort level I had before playing cash. Even though it's a tiny sample I am not making many of the mistakes I was making when I first started back. Knocking the rust off and adding a few new tools to the grab bag. So total since I started back to cash looks like this:

I've been looking at my PT data a lot more then I ever did before and I think my results are coinciding with the study I have been doing. Take a look at the graph for the difference. I am avoiding the 1-2 big mistakes a session that caused the massive swings early on, and when I get it in ahead set vs draw the hands have been holding. I know it's still a small sample but it makes me feel good knowing I'm earning some Sklansky bucks. So my first 10k hands have been a small success and I hope to keep improving over the next half of the month and start taking shots at 50nl next month. Here's the graph of the first 10k:

Goodbye July, Aug goals and update

Since embarking on my adventure that is 6 max a few weeks back things didn't start out to well. My sessions have been very swingy and I know I went on tilt a few times, which is strange since in tournies I seemed to have that under control. I have played a total of 6,621 hands in that few weeks and feel I am improving. I think swapping HH's with Jojo and now Scott has helped me out a lot. I hope that they are benefitting also. So things seem to be improving. It kind of sucks playing 6,6xx hands of breakeven poker. I'm actually down $0.60 but rakeback kicks it up to ~+$55. Still sucks. I have been reading a lot of the microNL stickies at 2+2 and went through my PT stats as suggested in one thread and think I found a leak of mine. A pretty large one actually. I seem to be playing far to many hands from the sb and it has costed me dearly so that is something I've been working on along with Jojo and Scott's suggestions. So I suppose I'll stick it out this month and then try and determine if I'm just on the good side of variance at the moment. Here's my goals for Aug:

Night and Day

Yesterday I played ~1100 hands of 25nl on FTP. It was split up into two session one in the morning ~9am est and one in the evening ~11pm est. To my surprise there seemed to be more solid players at each table in the evening on FTP. Maybe my table selection wasn't as good in the evening I don't know. All I know is that the table makeup for every table I was on in the evening went something like one maniac one super nit and the rest had tag stats. I think I need to reread the table selection articles in microNL on 2+2. It also brings up another topic I've been wondering about lately. Over my last 36xx hands at 25nl I have earned ~$30 in rakeback on FTP. When looking at the number of players on the tables at 11pm est during the week there is usually around 62,000 players on P*'s there usually 104,xxx. Simple math says that means there are more fish on P*'s then FTP. So is the increase amount of bad players create enough of an edge to pass up the rakeback. At these limits I think it is and am going to try playing P*'s for the next couple of weeks and see how it goes. P*'s is offering a "rakeback" program now to but by the way of the FPP program but only for new accounts, which kinda sucks.
For the sessions I ended up taking home just slightly more then 6 buyins which moves me to the positive for this little stretch. After viewing Jojo's HH and seeing his comments I have adjusted my three bet range and my ep raising requirements a little. I think a little more fine tuning is in order and swapping HH's seems a good way to figure out what it is that needs to change. That's all for now gotta get some homework done so I can play later on tonight.

So cash is not going so well

Played about 650 hands just now and lost another ~ 3 buyins. I wish the replayer was working but I'll post some HH's. Just to get an idea of how it was going KK was my biggest loser and as I lost 4 buyins with it aipf. I guess I just have to keep chugging along and wait for the run to end? I swapped HH's with Jojobinks so I'm hoping he's got some good idea's for me and if it is helpful for both of us maybe turn it into a consistent thing every other week or something. It's funny everytime I get in the here we go, I'm gonna stop screwin around and try and improve and really focus when I'm playing, I have one or two good days then the inevitable bad run starts and squashes my plan. Not this time. I am determined to stay focused. Of course I've said that all before too. This time seems different for some reason though. Maybe it's the shit or get off the pot attitude I have this time. It's pretty pointless to grind for like $4 an hour or w/e so improving and moving up is a high priority this time. A little frusteration

So after dropping a little over a buyin yesterday, today I lost a little over 2 more. I had to turn off FTP cause I could feel the tilt coming. There were some real gems in the swingy session. My KK < A3 aipf for an entire buying (wtf) flop 245 sigh. Then win back a buyin then lose to river gutter that calls down. It just seemed to be one of those days where you make a bunch of second best hands or get sucked out on. I know I'm whining, I know it shouldn't matter, and really it doesn't cause I felt I played fine until the end. I'm really hoping this HH swap with Jojo reveals something I am doing wrong cause 6 max has been very swingy. I'm not entirely sure if that is the norm or not but that has been my expierence thus far.

FT on FTP 6max

I played a 6 max tourney on FTP. Just finished 4/136 for $95. Overall I'm happy the way I played and got knocked out when I ran a flush into a rivered full house against the CL'er. Sucks but can't do anything about it. I can however improve my cash game. I was 3 tabling in addition to the tourney and while the ~ 650 hand session ended with me winning overall it would have been a much better performance if it weren't for 2 hands. I will prolly post tomorrow as I'm tired as hell but all in all I'm pretty happy with how I played today. I didn't make as many mistakes as I have been lately. I have a 25k gntd tourney to play Sun. from my rakeback affliate on FTP so here's to hoping I'm still running well and playing decent enough then.

Playing cash

So I've been trying to refind my 6max NL game. Haven't played a ton of hands but it feels like I have forgotten a lot. From playing HU it seems my hand reading has gotten better, and even though I get to the point where I think I'm beat I still find myself calling and paying off far to often for my liking. Even though I was playing/running bad at 25nl my BR stayed even thanks to limit 6max. Here's a hand I played particularly bad. I don't have many stats on the guy as he's only been sitting for a few orbits. I panzy out and don't c-bet cause limping weak Ax's seems to be the norm for these guys and I didn't want to build a big pot. I know I'm super weak.

I was a little surprised to see what he limped/called with pf. I took note and continued playing. Here's another hand that left me loling. O.K so you call with your gutter all the way. Why's he calling the river?

I later donked about $15 away against another "big stack" (bu ~ $55, him ~$67), when I flop two pair he flops straight and he let's me "value bet" the whole way, didn't even raise the river, although a backdoor flush showed up. Probably should've lost more.

Some random thoughts:
I'm thinking about taking a break from the CT LNPT games since that is really the only time I have to play anymore, with summer house projects, getting ready for the baby, classes, and trying like hell to get my car into a paint booth before winter so it can be reassembled throughout the winter and be ready for spring, playing time is at a premium. While I enjoy the games and the camaraderie that they offer, my br would have only slightly increased without the 180man wins and the two large field FT's. My goal is to get back to putting 10k hands a month in (I know not really that many but it's been awhile for me). Shouldn't be a problem 4 tabling two hours a night 4 days a week but I don't want to do more then 4 tables. I want to improve my game not just grind 9 tables of 25nl forever. Also After talking some with Jojo I'm going to start taking shots a little more often and quit being such a BR nit. Before my latest cash out I was playing 25nl and 50nl on a 5k BR. Who the hell does that. After I get back to feeling comfortable again I think I'm going to use the 20 buyin rule and take some shots if I see that the games are good. No sense in puttering along.

Brief update

So I sign up for this $2.22 2X rebuy on stars while I wait for the LNPT to start last night. I don't have much of a BR on stars but have been dabbling in some of their .10/.25 ring games lately because well not really sure. Thinking a BR building challenge on stars will get me motivated to play again. Anyway I started with a BR just over $50 as I was only going to play the LNPT there and keep playing on FTP. After last nights run in the $2.22 I am sitting a little over $500 as I took 4th out of 1208 for ~ $280. A couple of weeks ago I took down a $2 180 man also. I'm glad I can graduate to the $5 games now. It made for a late night for not a big pay day, but I have a somewhat workable stars roll now. At least I can safely play 25nl now on 20 buyins there. I still enjoy FTP but the change of scenary is good for some reason. For the tourney I felt like I played well and picked up good hands when I needed to, except for the last 2hrs or so. I mean let's be honest the early play in a $2 tourney the play is awful at best and there are plenty of chances to chip up. The end of the tourney the play was better, but still pretty awful on most levels. It was fun to go deep in another big field tourney as it gains you expierence regardless of the level, on how to play when your exhausted. Look at that two post's in a week. Haven't done that in awhile.

Been a long time without a post. I cashed out a good chunk of my BR and started grinding low limit cash games to replenish it. Been playing a lot of 22's and occasional 33's HU sng's along with 50HUNL with pretty good success. Also final tabled the midnight madness on FTP recently finishing 7/1441. So all in all not a lot going on. Classes are tough and taking away from playing time. That's it for now and GL on the tables.

I got bit by the tourney bug

So I played a bunch of 45, 90, and 180 man tournies this week. Also played a few larger field MTT's and had a few good runs. Ended up at three FT's, and had some deep runs in a couple of other large field MTT's. Ended up being up $280 from them but I really had a couple of good chances to really make some decent coin from. Ah well nature of the beast with tournies I suppose.

I know I've said it before then changed my mind but I've decided (and this time for real) that I'm going to focus mainly on my cash game. I have decided to set up a plan that will allow me to play 2 hrs a day for 5 days a week. On days were I am focused and sharp I will 6 table 50nl 6max. On days were I don't feel I'm playing my A game I will 6 table 50nl FR because honestly you can auto pilot ABC on FR 50nl and make the moniez. This leads me to another thing I've been pondering writing about. I think I'm going to write a pseudo article on the outside influences on poker. Things like state of mind, superstitions, diet, sleep etc. I feel it has a lot more to do with being successful than most people realize(or at least give credit to).

Well I think that will wrap it up for now. I have a ton of school work still to do. It's a lot harder balancing the work load of being a student while having a full time job. It didn't seem this difficult to balance out time the first time around.

FTP offered me a bonus. Sweet haven't had one of those offers in a long while so lets gogogogo. 6 tabled 50nl 6max. Played more than I have in recent memory the last 10 days. I played 6 days for 2-3 hrs each day. Except at the end because I went on a bad run, monkey tilted and turned off the FTP client. still positive but still I was really disappointed. Someone on CT decided to run a BR building challenge for Feb. I decided to sign up even though I don't think I have any chance of winning since at most I'll be able to play 2hrs a day 4 days a week. There's no buyin so no foul. The bet is to see who can run $20 up to the highest number in the month of Feb. I might just play 3 5.50's and 3 1.10's to start and hope to take a good start out of the gates. So that break went from 1-2 weeks to 4 days lol.

A week filled with "Sigh"

So I didn't play a lot but when I did it was filled with beats, non - completing draws yada yada which leads to lots of "sigh". Only played 18xx hands of 25nl and 50nl. Ended up -$36.xx. If it was for the sigh factor it would have been hugely positive. Went deep in some Mtt's. Finished 30/2121 in a little $2 tourney on Stars. That yielded a whopping $10's. Bubbled a FTP tourney 19/184. That yielded a nice $0. Bubbled the 20K gntd last night on P*'s. Finished 6 spots from the money on a set over set hand. Another big sigh. Thinking I'm going to be in the top 100 starting the ITM stages to out really sucked. I feel like I'm playing well just not getting the results. This has been going on for awhile and it's really starting to hurt the confidence. I've also found myself tilting after bad runs lately, which I thought I had control of, but as I watch the 2,3,4 outers hit over and over I've been expeirencing some severe monkey tilt. I think I'm going to take the next couple of weeks off from playing at all and do some other things I enjoy. I feel like I've been neglecting my other hobbies and it could be time for a break (I say that but if the chance to play live comes I will most likely play). I've really been working hard on my course work and I'm seeing that pay off. I'm really hoping to get an invite to an honors society sometime in the spring as that's when they check and see who is eligible. So till next time...

Played a live tourney

First time playing with this group of players. I got the invite from a buddy at work. 8 people $10 buyin first $50 second $20 Third $10. To my suprise they had a pretty decent blind schedule to. From the start I was on. I read every one almost perfectly. I can't believe how bad some people are live and how many tells they have. My normal group don't seem to give off tells like this group. Hand shaking, and facial movements were pretty common. There were two pretty decent players in the group. I got HU with a 3-1 chip lead. We traded blinds and a couple of small pots before the first all in and call. I doubled them up and they offered to chop. Now I knew I was the better player but this is a group I wouldn't mind playing with again especially since they were talking about making the start time earlier to play more than 1 game a night. I also didn't want to leave a bad taste in anyone's mouth about the new guy not accepting to split or whatever, and I'm not sure on if they ever play cash games, but if they do I would really love to get in on that. I had fun and got to play live so I accomplished what I wanted. I'll have to start hosting a regular game again now that the game room is finished.

I didn't play hardly at all through the holidays. Started back up 12 days ago. No real cashes in MTT's. Been playing a lot of 25nl and 50nl on Cake the last week. I really like that site. Anyway I'm up 4 buyins at 25nl and 6 and change at 50nl. I also just finished a little $5.50 Mtt there. Only 53 runners. I ended up taking it down for +79.50. Not an big win by any stretch but it did feel good to take down an mtt no matter the size seeing as how I've been running like complete ass for the last 3 months. It's nice to post up a win for a change. I was beginning to think I needed to change the name of the blog for awhile. That or I completely forgot how to play and needed to realize I really suck and was just on a heater before that. So even though it's small it's nice to get some confidence back.

Ended the tourney in 196/1841 for a whopping $2.20. Hand that crippled me was AQ < AJ from a medium stack that costed me a little over half of my stack. My bust hand was me shoving A3s from the CO and getting called by another medium stack that just barely had me cover with 87o. Flop A69 turn 5 river 8 GG him. The cash games went well until I hit 25nl. Had $24, only needed one more friggin dollar. I pick up QQ and raise table maniac and big stack calls flop was whatever rainbow I pot it at $2.50. He calls turn brings a second club. I bet 3/4 pot he calls. river A I check he checks and shows A6. hmm. Later I raise 1010 he calls again. Flop 10 8 3 two spades. I pot he calls. turn is a blank. I shove he calls with K2 of spades. River spade sigh, brought my little experiment to an early end. I'm going to go do something productive now.

I'm pretty bored today. I had plans that had me doing things outside today, but it got cold. So I signed up for a $1 MTT on P*'s. I'm also going to do a cash challenge(see what happens when I getbored) I'm starting at 10nl with $5 and will move up when I have half of the next level. so here's how it will look

I took a few days off last week (4) and went down to visit my Mom and brother in VA. Mom had some chest pain and they did a heart cath, found some blockage and put a stint in. She returned to work yesterday. Modern medicine amazes me. Last Wed. she was a couple of days away from a massive heart attack and mon. she's back at work and said she feels better than she has in years when she first started complaining of chest pain (her old dr. determined it was stress from work). I managed to play only 62 stt's since Dec. started. Running good at times terrible at others. Had a 9 game OOTM streak. Kinda sucked. Not the longest I've had but none the less it sucks. Here's the stats from Dec. 1st to yesterday(when I should have posted)

Well I played sng's almost exclusively this month. Started two tableing then four then six then nine. Nine is hard and really hurt the ROI. My new plan is to four table the $12 turbos in Dec. Depending on how I develope I will move to 6 tableing the $12's in Jan. If that goes well I should have enough BR to take shots at the $24's in Feb. Stats for Nov.

1) I played soccer semi-seriously from 5-18. Played for a regional junior olympic team at 16 and played a tourney in Amsterdam, Holland. Came back hurt knee,back blah blah no college games for me.

2) From 15-20 I was the lead vocalist for a local Hardcore band. We released a 8 song demo and 12 song CD. Played the World Series of Metal and the Cleveland music festival. Pretty cool for 17 y/o's.

3) Married my highschool sweetheart. Been together since we were 16.

4) I am really into cars. I'm currently building a 79 malibu. It's a labor of love going on 6 years. Building a show and go car is much more expensive then I ever imagined but it's so much fun.

5) I am currently back at Uni this time majoring in Finance.

6) I am a horror movie nerd

7) I have two dogs and a cat. A boxer(my baby), a french bulldog(her baby), and the cat is mine.

Poker update.

The wonderful downswing continues. Going on a month and a half. I looked at PT and I've lost 78.6% of coinflips that I go in LEADING. I'm ready to smash the F*&^ out of my monitor. It is making it easier to work on my car after work instead of playing poker though. It has been a needed break. A buddy of mine and I are also looking into renting our own shop if we can find one within reason. Between the two of us there isn't anything we're not qualified to do to an automobile. It would start as a place for us to finish our cars(he building a 72 cutlass both are pretty close to being done) then use them as our business card so to speak and see if we can get a little business going. We've been talking about it for years, now that we're both kinda financially secure it could become an option.

Had a problem come up at work so I had to stay home. I was kinda upset but at the same time with Mountaineer opening up a card room I'll probably use the monies I was going to take to the circuit event and try to start a live BR. After work thurs. I did something I haven't done in a long time...I worked on my car. I'm doing a frame off restoration/build of a 79 malibu (hence the name) and I put a good eight hours into it on thurs. It really felt good and I got the urge back to work on it again. I will probably be spending more of my free time out in the garage instead of on the felt at least until the weather finally turns.

Well I haven't been playing much NL I've actually been playing 6-max limit. It's so much more enjoyable although more difficult. Here's my stats so far

I still play that level at stars to since I don't have much of a BR on there. No real interesting tournies to report on. Went deep in a couple recently a couple top 18 finishes but no final tables since my last post.

I am going to play at Harrah's this upcoming thurs. in the 300+40 NL circuit event. I'm leaving right after work wed. night and heading down. Should get there around 4am or so. Hopefully I'll be able to grab a few hours sleep before the tourney starts. Who knows maybe I'll have a really cool trip report when I get back.

Well I haven't updated since the wedding. I didn't play much the week before the wedding or much since then. I've been working a bunch and just enjoying the time I've had at home with the Mrs's. I did play around 3500 hands of limit 6 max over the past three weeks. I qualified for FTOPS Event 11 limit 6 max with 200K gntd on the 17th of Aug. so if your bored come give some sweat. I think I'm going to focuse on my sh NL game again. I am going to start low as it's been close to a year since I played it with any consistency and will start at 25NL four tableing. My goal is by New Years to be 4 tableing 100NL consistently. I kinda wish I never quit playing NL cash games after looking through how profitable it was in my PT database. I also joined Stox poker website. They have some really good instructional vids with commentary there. Check them out if you get bored.

Cake 10K gntd

Decided to play the $30 + 3 10K gntd last night on Cake bc it started the same time as the CT tourney. I was pretty card dead and when I did get good cards I'd seemingly just pick up the blinds or take it down on the flop with a c-bet. I really didn't play many hands so I probably looked like a super nit. Once the blinds started getting bigger I started stealing more and no one really put up a fight. It helped that I didn't move table during the first hour and a half. The whole tourney I was right in the middle of the pack. I didn't move up any until a hand where I was OTB with around 18xx chips. I'm the second shortest stack at the table. Blinds were at 75-150 and theres 3 limpers so I raise it up to 700 hoping to pick up the dead money from the limpers. Blinds both fold, original limper folds, next calls(damn), next folds. Well at least it HU going to the flop. Flop comes 8,7,6. I'm thinking sweet a set and I can't wait to see that guy flip 9 10s. He checked and I thought for awhile and pushed figuring I had outs if called and needed the chips if I wanted any shot at making the money. He thought for awhile and called and showed............you ready................Q10o. WTF sweet thanks for that call. No miracle 9 for him and I double up. Nothing really major happend after that, just kept chipping up taking the blinds, or taking it down on the flop. Once we got down to 25 it was a total crap shoot for everyone except the two big stacks. The average stack was 8BB's. The hand I got knocked out on guy UTG min-raised(he had raised the last 3 orbits UTG) all fold to a 3BB stack OTB who pushes and I look at JJ. I push over the top my 9BB's hoping to get it HU against the button. UTG calls. I'm hoping for 2 AX type hands. I got one UTG had QQ, Button had AK. No help and I'm gone. I'm pretty sure it was the right play as the only real money was in the top three and if I take that down I have a real good shot. So another deep finish with not much to show for it. O well next time.

20+2 P*'s tourney

Today I played a $22 tourney on P*'s. The cool thing was that we started with 3000 chips intstead of the usual 1500 so it was much better than a regular P*'s tourney. Nothing really interesting happend the entire tourney. It only took a little over 3hrs to break the money bubble at 135 people remaining. I lost half my stack to a shorter stack and doubled him up. My bust out hand in CO I shoved 88 with around 15BB's, button overshoved with 99 no help for me and I'm done. Kinda disappointing to play for 3.5hrs and only profit 5.xx.

A good end to a bad start 2K gntd on Cake

After a pretty bad start at FTP I decided to play the the 10+1 2k gntd on Cake. There were 241 runners at the start. Ended up making the FT as a "big" stack sitting 3/10. The chip leader had about 2x as many chips at the start of the FT. He proceeded to donk them all of though and finished his night early. When it got down to four players I was sitting second behind one large stack of about 170K me with 70K and two 40K stacks. Then something strange happend. One of the players disconnected and the big stack took advantage. The other 40K stack seemed to decide he didn't want to get involved and get knocked out before the disconnected player. The big stack and I butted heads a few times trying for the dead money. HU started with the big stack at approx. 230K, me at approx. 90k. I built up to around 105K then lost around 30k on a hand that I plain screwed up and let him push me off of. Down to 70K and this hand occurred. I was BB he was button. Stacks 75K and 245K. Blinds were 2/4K I think maybe 3/6k w an ante I forget what it was now I'll have to see if I can get the HH. He completes his sb I check in the BB with 72. Flop comes Q 8 2 r I lead out for 8k he calls. Turn 5 I check he checks River 2 I lead out for around Half the pot he shoves I call and show trip 2's. He shows KK. The power of the hammer lol. This hand put him on crazy tilt and I ended up taking it down. A good end to a bad start. I think the one thing that stands out about this tournament was, I was never actually all-in until HU. I had the opponent covered everyother time. That kinda stood out about this tourney. A +$602.50 payday. Not bad for 3.5hrs.

Don't really feel like writing anything poker related as there's nothing really going on. Bubbled a couple 45 mans on FTP, I'm in second in that 3.25 45 challenge on CT right now. I just spent the last hour or so going through what to do in the Bahama's on our honeymoon in 3 weeks. Scuba diving is definately in. We are also going to swim with dolphins at our hotel since they have a private dolphin pool. To my suprise there are numerous scuba trips involving swimming with sharks. I really would love to do that. All of the pics are beautiful. The Bahama's seems like such a marvelous place. I can't wait to go and spend the week there. I promised to only hit the casino for one day and only a few hours. I guess no poker. Maybe some blackjack or a couple other games like 3 card etc. I hate slots. Also for my bachelors party we're going to go go-kart racing for 3hrs then to a horse racing track. There's going to be 20 or so of us and we're all going to through $20 down on a 10-1 or 20-1 shot. If we hit that would be $16,000(on the 20-1 shot) to blow at the strip club after) that would be amazing. Anything I should know about picking horses? I have until the 30th to figue out what to look for. Well if we hit it will make for a great post on here lol.

3.25 CT challenge, randomness

So a couple people decided to make a challenge out of the 3.25 turbo 45 mans on Stars. These things are crazy. You have all month and your best 10 finishes count. For some reason I decided to play. I'm currently in fourth out of I think 8 people. The turbo part is taking some getting used to and I think I'm finally starting to adjust.

This tourney was something else. At the 50/100 level I was up to 43xx chips. Picked up AA and got it in preflop against AKo stack 36xx. Lost to a flush and was down to 615 in chips. Started pushing and the big stacks let me take the blinds 3 times that orbit and I finally got called but I had a hand and doubled up to 22xx right before break. Then the FT I was so short compared to everyone I was just looking for spots to try and get some chips to try and move up the payout ladder, then the big stacks started attacking eachother and I'm like cool moving on up. Next thing I know it's down to 3 and one 334,xxx stack, and me at 40,xxx, and the other at 50,xxx. Then HU started me down 110,xxx to 33x,xxx got lucky to double up KK against AQ on a x Q K flop then got lucky over playing AKs HU and won.

Sorry it's been awhile since I updated. I've been playing a lot of Mtt's and 10+1 and 20+2 45 man sng's on Full Tilt and honestly I think I've found my niche. I ran really well, then not so well, then average, now really well again. I had a few MTT FT's since I last posted. I feel like I'm really developing my tournament game. I am recognizing resteal, stealing situations, running effective stop and goes etc. I'm really happy with how I'm playing and the results are starting to show. I know I keep saying I will try to update this thing more often but I can't seem to get into a rythm.

Yesterday was the weekly Chiptalk tourney. I have been playing absolutely terrible the last three weeks. This week I managed to make the FT and make a 4th place finish. I really thought I had a shot at the whole thing when I picked up QQ OTB and the CO raised. We were both short compared to the blinds with around 7-8BB's. I pushed he called and tabled KK no miracle for me, but it's still much improved. I also FT'd 3 tourneys in the passed two days on Cake so I'm startingn to get a little of my confidence back.

Theres been a lot of talk lately of the positive benefits of playing shortstacked. So I'm going to jump on the band wagon. I'm going to do a little exercise which I'm hoping will keep me posting here. I'm going to start with $100 and see how long it will take to turn it into $1000 4 tableing 6max. I am going to try to play 3hrs a day 5 days a week. I am going to start at .05/.10 and buy-in for half the table max. When I double up I will leave the table and move to another and repeat. When I get to $250 I'll move up to 25NL, $500 up to 50NL, and I'll end at $1000. This will give me 20 short buy-ins at each level. I think I'm going to do this on stars since I'll be playing during the day and there's not as much traffic at FTP which sucks cause I'm going to miss out on a lot of rakeback. Let the journey begin....

I took some time off and now I'm back. I played a $22r gntd $40K on pokerroom today. I won a $22 ticket from a $3.40 tourny. 1075 runners. Top 130 got paid. After playing some of the best poker I have in a long while I made my first and only bad play and it sent me packing. I was getting short stacked with 37 left and pushed my A6s from Mp. The table had been folding to raises like this the last two orbits. I had around 8BB's. Guy behind me pushes for 168K more. Well another week down. Had a hectic week. We closed on our house and have been slowly moving things in and getting the rooms ready for painting. Also had my fiances brother from out of town in for the week. I also was running around getting drug tested, physical for the new job and all this while trying to play poker. I signed up at Full Tilt on Tues. for the rakeback deal. I got the standard 27%. It's a nice site but most of the traffic is there at night which is when I work. The games are pretty weak even during the day though so thats ok. Also I'm working off the deposit bonus they have. So all in all things are going pretty good. Now if I could figure out a way to get more than 4hrs of sleep a day I'd be alright. This 3rd shift is killing me. On to the stats.

Well I just finished a late night session. A lot of the hands took place after midnight so they will count towards next week. All in all I'm pretty pleased with how I played this week. I played some at Pokerstars 25NL today after I saw they had resizable tables available now. Maybe it was the time of day I was playing, but the tables seemed a whole lot tighter than at Party. Ok no one wants to read that. Here's the stats. I am going to include all hands played. All were 25NL except the 227 50NL at Pokerfantasy, but it's easier to keep track of if there all together.

I'm still running really well. It would be great if this could last forever. I'm dreading the inevitable dry deck. Played some more on PP 25NL and some 50NL on PokerFantasy. Having a good old time. I have been playing four tables of 25NL on PP and 1 table of 50NL on Pokerfantasy. I've been playing around 2 hours a day for the last three days. A little more when possible. Hope to get around 4 hours a day over the weekend, and speaking of the weekend everyone have a good one at the tables unless your at mine.

I ran great at Pokerfantasy again today. I wish I always ran as great as I am right now. I've also been reading the new Sklansky/Miller book and I've been learning a ton. Well I started the week out great in sng play. Today however didn't go so well which negated much of my profit from Sun-Tues. Played some nl cash today on Party and Pokerfantasy. I had 8.60 left in my Pokerfantasy account after a cashout and decided to throw it on a $50nl table. I'm glad I did that. Was doing really well on party until a beautiful river suckout cost me $30. O well here's the stats.

I am a little ashamed to post this. I decided not to give up on sng's as I feel I know how to beat them just not as well as cash games. Since I haven't gotten it down yet I need to get a handle on them, if for nothing else but personal satisfaction. On the plus side I had a job interview that seemed to go well today and would be an extra $10000 a year. First was a $5 Freezeout with 198 runners. Played ok, nothing to spectacular happening ended up 14th for $10. I know Balla. While that was going on, an hour in a $3r started up. I join never rebuy only take the add-on so total investment was $6. End up in 6th after I push from the button with A5 and sb wakes up with KK. No help and I'm out as he had me slightly covered. Ended up +$66.45. I feel like I played really good in the rebuy tourny. O well still up $71.45 for the evening/morning.

Well today I was playing a $4.40 180 man sng on Stars. We're up to the first break and I'm 7th in chips, playing good and feeling good. Start playing after the first break and there are around 80 people I think left. At the same time I'm playing a $5.50 tourny with $200 added on pokerfantasy with 60 runners. Both started around the same time and an hour in I'm 3rd in chips on PokerFantasy with 21 people left going into the first break. Then I lose my internet connection. The last I saw on Pokerstars I was in 5th with 62 people left. I end up finishing the Pokerstars tourny in 20th after I blinded away, and somehow I ended up in 9th on PokerFantasy earning $14. I had to request the tourny histories to find out where I finished. What a waste of good play and a chance to really slingshot the bankroll ahead. In nl cash games last week I managed pretty good and ended up +$227.98 for the week. I made a goal to try and make a min. of $100 a week. I know goals are supposed to be bad because your results oriented but it helps keep me focused. Till next time....

I think I'm going to start updating once a week with stats and things. Been real busy here, me and my fiance just bought our first home, so I've been spending a lot of time filling out paperwork and such. I did finish my pso bonus for the books I ordered. I ended up +$136.53 plus HOH3, Hold'em for advanced players, and the psychology of poker. I still have some ways to go to earn my $140 deposit bonus though. Would have been an extra $55 if I didn't sign up for the wrong tourny. O'well. I think I'm going to continue to play there though as the games are pretty soft. That is all for now just felt like writing something in case someone is actually reading this.

I was playing on Pokershare just now. I was playing 2 .25/.50 nl tables. I was up $43.25. I saw a $5.50 satellite into their $5000 gntd that their having today. I go to click in the lobby to sign up one of my tables pops up, I fold and sign up for the satellite. I go back to playing and the new window pops up for the tourney. Sweet only 15 people. I go to check my account to see if my FPP's have been updated and I'm missing a bunch of money. I'm like wtf, then I look at the tournament lobby, I clicked one below what I wanted and signed up for a $50 +5 WSOP satellite for their $500 + 30 tourny. So all my profit is gone as only 1,2 got a seat and I went out in 8th. I'm an idiot.

Well started the morning playing .25/.50 nl on Pokershare. The two tables I was at were crazy, a lot of big pots, which would have been great had I been able to pick up some cards. Also while I was playing there I decided since I have around $300 in Titan poker I might as well play a couple of the $5 + 1 Jackpot sng's. If you win 5 in a row you get $25,000 or in you get a combo of 5 1st's and 2nd's you get a $200 bonus. I know odds are it won't happen but I haven't played a sng in a while so I figured I would give it a shot. Played 3. I won the first, coasted through, was playing really well. The second I got some cards early then went card dead for awhile, but managed to make the money. Doubled up with 44 against the chipleaders A3. Then took out the guy left shorter than me. Then lost heads-up when my AJ lost to 33. O well still a shot for the $200. Third game I held 77 made a boat on a 6h7h6s flop. 8 people to flop. Action check check check me bet 80 (pot was 80 5/10 blinds) one call, raise to 200, fold to me, call(hoping original caller would come), fold. Turn Ah. I'm hoping this guy is playing some hearts, a big A, 6A, bets pot, I come over top, he pushes, I call, he shows Q6, river 6. Such is the game. I guess I'll start over next time I play.

So I played some more .25/.50 nl yesterday. Got down early due to two over played overpairs. Worked my way back from -$60 with pretty solid play after that. I'm beginning to see a trend with those. I played another PStars $4.40 180. Went out 75th after my stack took a hit with AKs in spades. Flop came 2spade 9 spade 9heart. Action he checked I check. Turn 10spade, he bets I raise he pushes I call he shows A9hearts river 10. Three hands later my AA< Q9 and I'm down to 1BB, so is poker.

I got up early, at least for me on a Sat. and played some NL cash on PokerShare working off the latest PSO bonus. I played two tables of .25/.50 NL and a Pokerstars 180 man $4.40.

I thought I played pretty well in the Pokerstars tourney but I ended up finishing in 38th. Top 18 get paid.

Stats for the NL cash games for today are:

I think I'm just going to stick with .25/.50 NL now. There's really no skill difference between the .05/.10 level and there, plus the FPP's clear a lot faster at .25/.50. I would love to get some more limit hands in but it doesn't seem like there is a game going on ever. I really feel like I'm playing good poker again and I actually am comfortable playing. I haven't felt this comfortable playing in a long time. Maybe I should stay with cash games, I seem to have a much better understanding than I do at sng's.
